What is TRNi

Transmission Rebuilders Network International, is a world-wide network of 1,200 transmission professionals, interacting on problems, fixes, diagnosis, hydraulics, functions, bench techniques, part locating/reviewing, homemade tools, assembly tips, and installation tips for the transmission repair industry. TRNi members share knowledge, experience, and advice on the science of rebuilding automatic transmissions, as well as managing a transmission shop. It is a forum for direct contact with aftermarket and equipment suppliers to the industry. Often a manufacturer is able to answer a question that a member has on a product and its availability.

History

Transmission rebuilder’s had it’s start in 1996 when Bill Fuller a builder was struggling to locate reasonably priced source of technical support. While searching for help on the internet he realized that there was little help to be found. After talking with other professionals he discovered that there were many transmission professionals that were struggling with the same challenges.

TRNi was born as a result of that discovery, in the early years Bill would manually send the emails out and notify members of the updates to the diagnostic challenges. As the network grew this became increasingly more difficult and the list service forums were implemented. Growth in the early years was dependent on member referrals and links from other websites, however with the implementation of an aggressive marketing strategy the 4th quarter of 2007 saw over 150 new members. The winter campaign of 2008 has seen close to 100 new members in the first 75 days of the year.

Over the years TRNi has grown and now has close to 6000 fixes in the database and close 1200 active members. TRNI has also changed its focus and it constantly looking for new ideas to deliver better, higher quality content. No longer being purely dependent on member involvement and the addition of Chilton and other industry specific data TRNi has grown to into a quality resource for many auto professionals.
